Isotherm 42503BA100000 died, should I get something else?

We are going to be cruising the tropics for the next few years and our Isotherm 42503BA100000 fridge compressor just died. Looks like the compressor is hard to find and would cost the same or less to get the whole setup(about $1000).

Should we go with something else? We would prefer whatever we get to support 12V and not be engine driven.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

How do you know it is the compressor that has given up , it may something else that is giving you trouble .

What is the unit doing ?

Also is this a fridge or a icebox conversion unit ?

Regards John.

Ok I found the unit , it is an icebox conversion setup that has bin evaporator and is air cooled .

Am I right ?

Isotherm Compact 2501 7.1 cf Fridge or 2.3 cf Freezer Cooling Unit

More then likely it is not your compressor that has gone bad but something else .

Regards
