Help for Connecting Water Heater

Has anyone connected the water heater Raritan 12 gal water heater to
The Perkins 4.236 coolant? On a cal cruising 46?

Is this advisable?
Is it safe?
How is it done?
Can this be done by a do it yourselfer?

Ed,

This is not a big deal. Basically you connect your coolant return line from the heat exchanger to the water heater and the discharge line from the water heater to the input side of the coolant pump. A cross-over line is added between these two lines with T-fittings so that the amount of heated coolant running through the water heater can be controlled with a valve on the water included for that purpose but the flow through the overall loop unrestricted because of theby-pass line. Raritan has a very good discussion of the matter on their web site.

FWIW...

Re: Help for Connecting Water Heater

We have exactly that set up on the Rita T and it works fine. Be careful using the hot water if you have been motoring for a while. The heater also comes with wiring for AC hookup when at dock.
