do you by chance have a link to that providential regulation?
I and I'm sure others would be rather interested.

Here is what I found

How to Comply
Guide to Sewage Discharge Regs
What this means to recreational boaters is that holding tanks are essentially now required equipment. There are ways to avoid installing permanent tanks and pumps, including some portable toilet devices and composting toilets. For example, Transport Canada has ruled that porta-potties and composting toilets can qualify as "temporary storage devices" as long as the vessel is less than 15 gross tons and carries fewer than 15 people. And they may not be emptied overboard.

Kelkara

Thanks for the link.
I wonder how many boats actually follow these regulations... only way if you are ocean going would be rather gross assembly and disassembley....

Thanks Kelkara. This is what I meant by the Great Lakes (Canada) seemingly existing in a bit of a grey zone with regard to composters. The regs seem to be targeting potapotties, but as written seem sweep up composters as well.

But I would in no way dissuade anyone from using a composter in Ontario waters. I've never heard of anyone running afoul of the law here.
