What ever the diameter of the shaft, the prop can be mounted this far back from the P bracket. This is a recommendation though and ours is a little further back again.

Not sure I know which marks you’re talking about. If you can indicate with an image. Thanks

Re: Where’s My Cutless Bearing?

He's I think talking about the cutter disc hitting the P strut. Leave about 1/4" to 3/8" space between the the cutter disc and the strut.

Any advice?
The left image shows the cutter disc rubbing on the strut.

Re: Where’s My Cutless Bearing?

Cutless is out but I’m amazed to find the mount bolts for the line cutter base go all the way through the cutless brass to the rubber. Glad I’m changing it now before the rubber was gone. This just doesn’t seem like a good idea. Too much chance for error. My guess is the prior job made holes so the bolts get tight (screw all the way in). I’ll add enough washers to not need to drill the cutless. Or I just won’t add the line cutter mount. Seems ridiculous.

For the install I’m planning to make a press with a threaded bolt 1/2” or more like this site shows.

Re: Where’s My Cutless Bearing?

Woah. That's not right. Another classic "marine" repair. I fixed cars for a living and would never tolerate the quality of work I routinely see by marine "mechanics".

Please use blue Loctite 242 on all your hardware. not only will it lock it but it'll also let you take it apart later. Antisieze on the shaft to coupler.
