But McD's cost more here than the rest of the world! Double, or more, than in the USA! The cheapest we had was in Panama where it was US$2 for the whole meal...
Egypt McD's was expensive but the burgers were huge.
The Caribbean McD's was cheap and you could buy beer (not a bottomless cup!) but the service was slow... LOL

Nic is on a world Burger Crusade! Best non-Macas so far was the now defunct Panama Canal Yacht Club buger, chips and salad $2 and .60c coke and .99c beer

Vasco is correct, this is a Volvopenta seal, To Identify it, measure the Propeller Shaft Diameter and the Shaft Tube Diameter, There is only 1 seal per shaft diameter either for imperial and metric shafts. If you give my the shaft size I and give you the part number. We have replaced seals that have been on off-shore cruisers who have been in the pacific for 7 years. I would not recommend leaving it that long though. regards David

Mark make sure that you use a GOOD quality waterproof grease. Remember oils aint oils.

I had a terrible problem with my Vetus anti siphon loop. B said to take it apart and clean it (remove salt crystals) did this a few times, no joy. Replaced it, very easy job and it's been fine since.

Thanks for the advice guys, I just had one of these Volvo seals installed in place of a packing gland this week.

I was wondering how to repack it, the info sheet is not specific enough.

Nothing like an excuse to go to McDonald's. I guess you use the thick shake straws.

The droning noise referred to sounds similiar to a worn rear gear box output bearing and has been mistaken for same.

Just to folow up on this thread.
It wasnt the Volvo Dripless that was the problem at all. It was the Vetus raw water anti syphon valve.

which was clogging a bit from use. Following advice from here I ripped it apart and the thing now works

I have also this Volvo Sterngland what looks like identical to Mark's photo above, but I'm unclear about the function of the rubber hose; is it for water or oil?
Mine is disappearing somewhere under the fuel tank and I didn't manage to find where it goes to!
Any ideas where to look for? Someone suggested a seacock?
The boat is a 1989 Beneteau Oceanis 430, and I would just like to confirm all is ok before I cause damage due to negligence...
Also googled Volvo sterngland and found some pictures without the hose...

Just a thanks note; helped me a lot today. Used the straw, had the grease, solved a leaky Volvo rubber shaft seal problem. On a Beneteau 321.

I use a "Lubriplate" grease, with a west system hypodermic like syringe. Just stick it under the lip and give it a squeeze
