Yanmar CW Level warning and Expansion Tank

Hi
I have twin 440hp 6LY2A-STP and had a Check "CW Level light come" on and a little smoke (a slight burning smell) coming from under the silver boot that goes over the Turbo where it attaches to the engine. It happened at 2800 RPM (cruising RPM) but no overheat problem at all. I pulled her back to 2500 RPM the light did not come on again and smoke stopped. When I got home and checked motor again (when cool) and expansion tank was nearly full and has not drained back. During the run home I checked motor temps with a heat gun and all seemed fine (actually lower than other side).
Any suggestions I am thinking maybe radiator cape problem anything else I should look for?
Thanks Stephen

Re: Yanmar CW Level warning and Expansion Tank

Might it have been a RAW water flow alarm?

Re: Yanmar CW Level warning and Expansion Tank

The Yanmar 6LY2A-STP has two water level sensors. One is for the raw water and this sensor is located in the air cooler. The other sensor is for the fresh water side (anti-freeze) & this coolant level sensor is located in the exhaust manifold. Your local dealer can supply these sensors. Good luck!
