Re: DeFever

First Taiwan then China. But, there have been hundreds of quality and not so much quality boats using Art DeFever's designs built all over the world and all called DeFevers.

The early DeFevers were built in multiple yards in Taiwan depending on the model. Some models were built in multiple yards. Recent boats have all been built in mainland China. However, the on site production manager from Taiwan went to China to oversee the building of Art's designs and is still around for getting unusual parts. Art himself is still around in San Diego and involved with the current builds.

If you want information on a specific model, there is a defevercruisers website and owners group with lots more information than I can provide. There is a forum with owners of just about every model made who can answer detailed questions.

Regards, Bob

Re: DeFever

Some of the earlier ones were built in Japan up until about 1972, I believe, and then the yard moved to Taiwan, From there to China. Many of his designs are built around the world, I think. Fleming swiped some of his lines by the look of them. You can still find Art around the SDYC, ask him... Capt Phil
