Regrets - I've had a few

Have you ever missed out on buying a boat for silly reasons and really kicked yourself?

I was really close to buying a lovely classic Woodnutt but a rude arrogant broker stopped me, a week later, when cooler heads prevailed she was sold..

I know life's to short etc etc, but what boat have you regretted letting slip away?

Very nearly bought a sister of the boat I am building. O said OK but just have to have a short sail with few friends. He pulled in to load water an hour later and another buyer standing on the deck wrote a cheque on the spot for same amount! Good buy too. I console myself five years later that I have a customized new boat. Could have been sailing for that time though!!

Re: Regrets - I've had a few

My regret isn't a boat I missed, it's the $250k I spent over 30 years accumulating a boat load of plastic models, books and accessories for the models.

I'm about to retire on a boat and have no room for all this stuff and with the market as it is, can't get much more than 10 cents on the dollar and have to fight like a dog to get even that.

I coulda had one hell of a boat by now if I'd done otherwise.

Maybe but what about the years of enjoyment? Everything's a trade off...

I regret selling our 50' custom designed, ice rated, aluminium trawler that burned 2gph!

Anyone want a big schooner cheap? The ebay auction is over but the boat did not sell. In the Q & A he says the reserve was $30k.

78 FT 1933 BRIGINTINE SCHOONER 85HP DIESEL LOW RESERVE

I'd love to pick one up. Always wanted a schooner.

That I let my first build, a 21 ft Friendship sloop, get away from me.
