I did leave my SPOT with her, so as long as she remembers how to use it we will all get to continue following her to Mazatlan.

Man. That's too bad. You have leads on new crew?

Re: We're Out of Here!

Hey, Zee'... expect a bit of rough weather off the top end of Cedros Island just above Bahia Tortuga. Short, steep seas are the norm until you get in the lee of Cedros Isld. If you do plan on stopping at Turtle Bay, ask for Sr Hector Estrada, he was the unofficial mayor and tell him Capt Phil, the gringo skipper from years back said to say Ola'. If you need anything in town, he will point you in the right direction. No English but a very honest and standup guy. His family fished for abalone starting back before WWII and has a lot of history. I was the guy who left his Transpac 49 for him to care for about 10 years ago while I bussed back to SD for parts. Not a problem on my return... he took wonderful care of our boat.
Anyone stopping there should bring a bag or two of clothes, old but in good shape, to drop off with the parish priest. Kids clothes are especially appreciated.
Important not to offer $ as these folks are very proud and self sufficient. A cash donation to the church is OK.
If you anchor, you will probably be met by some of the younger amigos offering all kinds of goods/boat washes, etc for $. Suggest you respectfully decline as they only will spend it on booze and drugs.
Safe travels, Zee... cheers, Capt Phil

Re: We're Out of Here!

Sorry to hear about your crew problem. Crew, or lack of it is how I started single-handing. I had a ton of no shows, and left me eating my lunch on the dock. Then my wife said she might not go, cruising, and I wasn't about to stay.

One evening after work I just went down to Frolic, and slipped her lines. I sailed S.F. Bay that evening with a new insight, and actually sailed Frolic back into her slip. Less than a year later I single-handed to Cabo. It was a life changing experience. BEST WISHES on finding someone who can stay with you..........i2f
