It's good to know how to change it, but is there any chance you could change the default so it doesn't send email? If not, the number one FAQ is going to be "how do I make it stop sending me email?"

The reason it is set this way is help our new (and low volume) members by notifying them. For the regular members this is really annoying but for a newbie that made a post, they appreciate having a notice sent.

This also help encourage members to come back to the site and keep the discussions more active.
