Boat yard blues

Misery loves company. Any boat yard blues stories?

36 days and counting. Sigh. Overbudget but what to expect? It is a boat. Hopefully, fingers crossed, splashing next week. A boatyard in south Florida is not pleasant this time of year! Hot! Humid! Rainy with chance of hurricanes.

Everyday. The rain has slowed progress. Back to the boatyard.

I'm looking for a yard in South Florida that allows owners to work on their boats, and is not terribly expensive. Does such a yard still exist?

There are two or three options in Palm Beach County and Martin County. The cheapest (by far) is the Indiantown Marina in Indiantown Indiantown Marina, Indiantown, Florida, Martin County, St. Lucie Waterway, Lake Okeechobee, Hurricane Hideaway, Boating. Cracker Boy in Riviera Beach will let you work on your boat, but you have to buy materials from them. There are other Cracker Boys in Ft. Laud & Ft. Pierce, but I haven't been in there.

I'll also be checking out Crackerboy, as the boat is in Ft. Lauderdale currently.

I've been there a couple of times, but have not worked on my boat there. I'd suggest calling them. I will tell you that you will not be buying your supplies very close by the marina, so you pretty much will have to have wheels if you haul out there.

Hmm. I think the Poland boat yard in the Miami River lets you do your own thing, too.
