Re: Bean bag or Hammock...

I carry a hammock chair, which is pretty versitlie and only needs one attachment point. $30- $50.

I also carry several bean bag chairs. About $20 each at target. I empty about half the beans out of them to turn them into cockpit cushions. Very popular on my boat. Those ones are blue. I also have one that is still full of all it's beans that is actually chair shaped. It's (international) orange, also from Target for about 20 + bucks. If I go overboard, that's the one I hope is thrown to me.

Bean bags also do double duty of conforming to fill odd spaces or packing things in when you want to prevent them from moving with the motion of the boat.

Same here....but I've only got one bean bag...half full...I'll have another as soon as I find a decent one.
Hammocks make my back hurt after a while.

I use bean bags about one quarter the size of the one you show, covered with Sunbella. Can use them underway as well as at anchor. Hard to get two attachment points for a hammock.
Make them in the color of your other canvas...

We carry both, and get enjoyment out of them. We use to have an Andirondack plastic chair also, but it got blown off the deck in Shelter Bay one night......i2f

Re: Bean bag or Hammock...

This size bean bag fits on my lazarette hatch perfectly...it can be used as a chair or bed...in fact anyway you like it.

plus I can throw it down in the cabin and use it as a long chair strait on the floor.

Re: Bean bag or Hammock...

I still prefer hammocks bed/chairs. I take one of the chairs and swing it under the mizzen boom when I fish at anchor.
Admiral fell asleep in it one day, so being a loving and caring husband, I gently released the sheet and eased the boom off the side of the boat so she had a surprise when she woke up.

That's funny!

So, how exactly are you funding the alimony?

I still can't get rid of her.

She paid me back about a month later, she retied the hammocj with a slip knot and when I was over the side with a beer and fishing, she tripped the slip knot.

not quite!!

I agree with others saying that hammocks ar bad for your back...I know it is so for my back.

however the gentle rocking motion of a boat may very well add hughe health benifits...no dought a better sleep and stress relife...my girlfriend a psycology student strongly belive in this...enough so that she wants us to start a floating rehabe clinic next year.

so yes cruising may well be tomorows remedy for stress related illneses???
