Need current info cruising Mazatlan to Huatulco

Going I could get current info on Mazatlan and heading south. This will be my first time in this area and looking for info on security concerns and where to go and not go and other info you can provide. I bought the Pacific Mexico handbook but it dated 2017 second edition so not sure if it still accurate. Have to say little nervous on the cartel activity I'm seeing. Which good place to anchor along the way and maybe best Marina's.
