GPS battery life

Just got a Garmin 276C. I'm wondering how long the battery will last before a recharge. I assume it depends on the use but does anybody have a ballpark figure?

I'm leaving for a week-long trip. Got 2 batteries. Wondering if I shouldbring the charger or not.

I have the older 176 and If I remember corectly I get about 6 hours on 4 Duracell's...lighted screen set on auto off after 2 or 3 min.

Battery life is dependent on the back light setting. If you press the power button quickly it will allow you to change the back light and will give you a battery life estimate.

Why not bring the charger any way? Suppose someone leaves it on all the first night. Stuff happens. I think you were right when you said it depends on the use. You really can't say how much use it will get.

Or a cigarette lighter adapter.

Take extra batteries / charger.

We have a Garmin handhelp plotter GPSmap 76Cx and on rechargable batteries will only just do a night at anchor watch.

Alkaline batteries re better.

Keep the back lighting off, or very low.

Our Navman Plotter at the helm has a neat data option: voltage! You can see the oltage go from 12.2 to 12.3 as you turn the backlighting down.

Thats where the power goes....

We have chargers, cigaette lighter input and small inverter to charge our camera batteries and also a supply of alkaline batteries and a big bundle of cheap Dollar Shop batteries. The Dollar Shop batteries are best on anything that will power up to them

The 276C will actually tell you approx. how many hours battery life is left. With the unit powered on briefly press the on/off button to access the meter.
