Vertical Windlass - corroded drive shaft

I have a problem with my vertical windlass. The main shaft has corroded (I assume) to the clutch tube that rotates round it and won't come free.

The clutch shaft needs to be removed so the machine screws holding the above deck assembly to the gearbox can be removed.

The manufacturer has advised that the gearbox adapter and the main shaft may need to be cut meaning some expensive parts will need to be ordered.

Any way of getting a brass/bronze shaft tube has corroded to a stainless steel shaft free?

I might have a some help for your winch as I have the same Arco winch on Tropical Dream. Here goes I have just been out and pulled all the bits apart and will try and talk you through my idea I hope I have picked your problem right. I assume that you can take the top housing of the clutch off to expose just the bottom bell, if so can you tap in a chisel both sides between the bell and the base plate to apply pressure to the bell then after multiple applications of what ever release agent you use / use a mandrel to hit the shaft that is corroded. May take a bit of time but best of luck -- if you need me to go back and look again to see if there is some other way give me a G`day. Cheers Jacko
