Ericson 27 Head Room ?

Hi all, I am looking at purchasing an Ericson 27, but unfortunately I have yet to climb aboard one. I am hoping to to look at a few prospects by the end of this month. If any one knows: What is the actual head room? Not just below the hatch. Also, what is the length of the forward berth? I have yet to find a berth that I fit into well (I am 6'3"), that is in the 27 ft range, so I am hoping that this is the fit!! Thanks for your time.

The knack of sleeping in small boats for anyone over 5'9" is developing a love for Foetal Sleeping.... either that or use the quarter berths which are usually longer

hahahaha. I suppose your right. However, I am still hoping to find some actual dimensions for the Ericson. Thanks for your time.

Tho' as an owner once said the forepeaks that pointy and narrow it'd be hard for anyone with big feet to get comfy..... so thats us 6ft+'s out for a start

Re: Ericson 27 Head Room ?

I know this is an old post, but did you ever get an answer to this question? I have the exact same question. Looking for actual headroom (not just below the hatch) and forward berth measurements on an Ericson 27.

We had an E27 many years ago. I am 5'11'' and had lots of headroom in the salon. With respect to the fwd berth, don't know dimensions but it was possible for me to barely fit if my feet were crammed into the 'V'. Not comfortable for sleeping.

Re: Ericson 27 Head Room ?

This is a really old post, but being 6’2” and the owner of an Ericson 27, I’ll answer it for future readers. The headroom below is just a hair too low for me to stand up straight, except in the companionway (when closed) or the forward hatch (also closed). I can walk around down below but I have to keep my head tilted to one side.

As far as the berths go, the quarterberth is definitely longer, but I can fit and barely stretch out in the vee berth. It’s a good thing my partner is 4’10”!
