Early Morgan 38s versus subsequent models ?

Practical Sailor says the first generation was designed by CM himself and 77 were built between 69 and 71

The next incarnation was designed by Ted Brewer, Jack Corey and the Morgan Design Team.

It's not clear what the differences are between the early morgan design and the subsequent incarnations and given that most M38 are the later design, it's hard to get good info specific to the first generation.

The earlier boats tend to be a lot cheaper. I'd love to know how the performance compares. I'm not smart enough to interpret 'sailboatdata.com"

thanks

I remember when the Brewer designed M38’s first appeared. They were fantastic…in looks and performance…..for a cruiser. My neighbor bought one of the first and cruised extensively for nearly 20 years.
