Advice on sailing a Nimble 24 from key west through the Carribean?

How abouts to Africa, after?

I am trying to get a sense for how much boat I need. What should I consider to go along this path? Position/Charting, power, food selection. What else?

The most sailing I have done is a 3 day bareboat rental, in Puget Sound. I am hungry for more! Dreaming of big swell.

You can drive down I95 in a Honda Grom Minature motorcycle, but why would you want to?

Generally 30ft is the recommended minimum. Just looking at your boat's specs vs 30 ft sailboat. 3000 lb displacement vs 10,000 lb displacement. 900 lb keel vs 4000 lb keel. 1.31ft draft vs 6ft draft.

The smallest boat ever sailed across the Atlantic was 5.5 ft. Basically just a water tight dinghy with little sail on top. I wouldn't recommend doing it in a boat that small. It may not hold up in rough conditions, so what is your safety worth to you? If you do make it, it will be a very rough ride compared to a larger boat. If you look at cruisers in Caribbean, very few people go smaller than 30 feet.

Indeed. I went with a Seafarer 31, so this boat would do the Carib Sea. But not trans-Atlantic!Click image for larger version
