Re: Coppercoat bottom paint

Hi Ewan,

Any comments on performance in fresh or brackish water? I have occasionally kept my boat in rivers or estuaries for a couple of months at time and for traditional bottom paints some and...

Re: Coppercoat bottom paint

Hi Ewan,

Thanks for the additional information.

Not a concern for me since I am based in FL, but reading between the lines I assume that for the northern boaters that haul every year there...

Re: Coppercoat bottom paint

If it does last ten years then buildup shouldn't be too much of a problem but as you found on your boat, more frequent application of hard paint can certainly require an occasional stripping.

So...

Re: Coppercoat bottom paint

Ah, AF, antifouling, I should have guessed. Maybe a language difference. Here in the southern US I might have said BP (bottom paint).

Have not yet seen any reports on the nano-particle BP. ...

Re: Coppercoat bottom paint

Not immediately but if one keeps a boat many years, or buys a used boat that someone else has had many years, this stuff could build up to a thick, heavy coat on the bottom.

Besides, I already...

Re: Coppercoat bottom paint

OK last post and I'm going to bed. First, what you are posting I don't consider a discussion. I've had plenty of discussions and this ain't one.

Second, I did not directly quote you in the...

Perhaps you should try reading my posts.

For example, pertaining to your comments above I responded.

So, since you wanted to nitpick on the semantics I corrected my statement to reflect...

Re: Coppercoat bottom paint

OK, I'll be more precise. What you did was compare my issue about different standards for sewage dumping by individuals and municipalities to individuals vs the military owning nuclear weapons. ...

Re: Coppercoat bottom paint

My concern is what do you do in ten years, if it really does last that long. Now you have a hull coated with a copper/epoxy mix that could be really hard to remove.

So, do the directions for...

Re: Coppercoat bottom paint

By using a valid argument like comparing sewage to nuclear weapons?

I still do not see or admit the invalidity of my comparison. Municipalities dump millions of gallons of untreated...

Re: Coppercoat bottom paint

Silly logic and does not apply at all to the waste issue.

The military can reasonably make the argument that there is a need for them to have nuclear weapons to accomplish the mission assigned to...

Yes, I though I made that perfectly clear in my post. Just in case you missed it I will copy the relevant sentence here.

Re: Coppercoat bottom paint

Yes, very apples and oranges.

But, on the other hand I think it is valid to compare municipalities dumping raw sewage by the millions of gallons into the waterways to the no discharge rules and...
