Re: Rebel Heart's Contribution to the Cruising Community
Not really. I'm guessing Atoll would still happily depart to save that boat this minute, if she was still afloat. And I'd still help him do it. Because the boat was worthy of rescue too. Crews have... |

Re: Rebel Heart's Contribution to the Cruising Community
Sure, but if he'd been looking at a tank with 80 gallons in it instead of a tank with 20 at the time of rescue, perhaps he'd have been more tempted to stay aboard instead of scuttling. And that mood... |

Re: Rebel Heart's Contribution to the Cruising Community
From the blog: "It will take a huge load off of my mind to be "in the trades", or at least in a 24 hour wind pattern that we can bank on throughout the night. Bobbing like a cork is no fun,... |

Re: Rebel Heart's Contribution to the Cruising Community
I seem to recollect reading on his blog, just after his installation of the wind vane, that it wouldn't function on some points of sail due to interference with his stern railing. He mentioned... |

Re: Rebel Heart's Contribution to the Cruising Community
I dunno, seems to fly in the face of evolution to me. Humans are constantly updating, nonstop. If we were still in Beta, we'd still be Neanderthal or Denisovans or Australopithecine or something.... |

Re: Rebel Heart's Contribution to the Cruising Community
To a guy like me who has spent twenty years or more working up to a bigger boat and building skills, family/crew, kitty, and all the rest, you guys both fall into that group. And that is in no way an... |

Re: Rebel Heart's Contribution to the Cruising Community

Re: Rebel Heart's Contribution to the Cruising Community
Yep, 50 cable will usually make one turn. I assure you, I got laughs as I throttled up and wondered aloud why my boat wasn't moving. 50 cable is also pretty strong, and works fine as dock line... |
