Re: Capsize Ratio's

I guess you are right if we talk about the cheapest boats you can have but cheap is a relative concept (as light). For instance you can have all the things I have mentioned and a light and strong...

Re: Capsize Ratio's

I agree it is the best technique and that it deserves to be weld in account when you buy a boat.

Of course this is just a part of the picture.

The way keel and shroud forces are redistributed...

Re: Capsize Ratio's

For instance, regarding balsa cored hulls ("A few builders decided to go whole hog and use balsa for the entire hull, with disastrous results. One cannot use balsa underwater and not expect it fill...

Re: Capsize Ratio's

Yes, let’s go back to wooden boats. Technology only worsens things because the ones that use it are a bunch of retards and complexity is too much for their weak brains.

Stone age would be too much...

Re: Capsize Ratio's

Not always. You have the cruising range of Pogo. They are built the same way the racers are (Pogo class 40), have a bit less sail and a shorter mast for being easier to handle.

The price are about...

Re: Capsize Ratio's

I agree. Well, they do not sail better, they sail much better than the old ones:D

Re: Capsize Ratio's

You mean, most cruisers would reject a new Halberg Rassy if they could afford one?

How a Hallberg-Rassy hull is built (https://www.hallberg-rassy.com/hull/building_a_hull.shtml)

I don’t think...

Re: Capsize Ratio's

Yes, I agree. Robotics, and controlled temperature and humidity also come to give more precision to the manufacture process.

Regarding almost all boats using vacuum infusion, well it would be...

Re: Capsize Ratio's

Humm!!!

Wauquiez, X yachts, GrandSoleil, Comar, Luffe yachts, J boats, Dehler, Pogo and even Jeanneau use vacuum infusion and are just some of the production manufacturers that use it. Most...

Re: Capsize Ratio's

I have saw many stability curves of the same boat in light condition and loaded condition.

On loaded condition the boat positive curve is bigger and the boat will have more stability but the AVS...

Re: Capsize Ratio's

That is only true in what regard going upwind in nasty weather. In those conditions if you cannot or want to have the bigger pounding given by a superior speed, you can go at the speed of an heavy...

Re: Capsize Ratio's

Who is talking about similar boats? The boats that have very high AVS figures normally have a lot less positive stability than boats with more moderated Avs.

Re: Capsize Ratio's

That's what I said you have implied:)

Can't you see it does not make sense?

It is common knowledge, based in many years of bluewater experience that Halberg-Rassy are very good and safe...

Re: Capsize Ratio's

I am not saying that the numbers (stability data) are not important. Quite the contrary, what I am saying is that it is not the AVS that is important but all the stability data given by a stability...

Re: Capsize Ratio's

That is a very partial view. The resistance that the boat offer to capsize as its dynamic stability can be a lot more important than a very high AVS.

It is very easy to make a boat with a huge...

Re: Capsize Ratio's

If you have cruised and raced you know that a performance boat has a lot more stability than a cruising boat. It needs that extra stability to be able to carry a lot more sail and go faster.

If...

Yes, I agree with you on that. What you are saying is about the same thing I said with that Ferrari analogy. But then I think that only sailors should sail cruising sailboats. There are plenty of...
