Check out the broadband antenna from Vesper. They supply AIS transceivers and have developed an antenna for this market. The specifications of the Shakespeare antennas are not clear enough...

The light Metz wire antenna is fine. The height of the antenna is more important than the gain. There is no good argument for a tall heavy fiberglass antenna at the mast head.

The Galaxy isn't optimum for masthead mounting on a sailboat. It's very long and has the coax permanently attached. The Metz is designed for masthead mounting and won't break if you scrape...
