There is no one single broadcast that can be heard all over the world any time of day or night. But generally you should be able to hear WWV on 5000, 10000 or 15000 kHz in AM mode most of the time....

One further point: Shortwave radio is not FM or CD quality. It is noisy a lot of the time and the signal will fade often. This is the nature of the beast. But there is no other way to send radio...

A place with no cell service is probably a good place to listen for shortwave.

Shortwave radio is broadcast from many countries with specific locations as the intended audience. Not too many...

A Mac makes it harder to find weather fax software but it does exist. Search for weather fax (or facsimile) software and you will find some. I think it is a bit more fiddly on a Mac but I don't have...

You generally use single sideband to receive weather. But WWV and WWVB (Hawaii) at 2.5, 5,10 & 15 mehahertz are in AM mode.
