Re: Westerbeke 46 rear seal
Back in the water!!! Happy days happy days. Its funny how small maintenance items progress from being extreme stress when you first encounter them to something you acknowledge with a shrug at a... |

Re: Westerbeke 46 rear seal
Yep, and the 2nd part is still a good part, so I will probably keep it. I didn't request two parts, so how would be know to send to parts unless the kit came with all three parts. Maybe they just... |

Re: Westerbeke 46 rear seal
Here's the deal. They are not only behind on their shipping but two to three weeks behind on their billing. The original price quoted was $346, which is $200 less than westerbeke. Most westerbeke... |

Re: Westerbeke 46 rear seal
If not for the oil leak, the engine still runs great. Starts right up without any issues. Doesn't make smoke, doesn't over heat, etc. So, as tempting as it sounds to just bite the bullet and get a... |

Re: Westerbeke 46 rear seal
I have in my hand an OEM seal! Its been confirmed by our mechanic as being the correct seal. Interestingly, the guy I ordered it from sent me two seals: a seal with same size and ID number as the... |

Re: Westerbeke 46 rear seal
Yes, we do have that rear seal. However, you cannot just press in a new seal. As can be seen in the attached photo the flange of the metal portion of the seal has the rubber part vulcanized to it. So... |

Re: Westerbeke 46 rear seal
The problem is having a rubber seal vulcanized to the metal housing. If I could find an appropriate seal, which does not exist because its proprietary design, I could have the seal vulcanized to the... |

Re: Westerbeke 46 rear seal
The one guy that said he had the part was a wash. Never showed up. So, its going to me at least until the 11th before I can expect to see a part. Frankly, I would be surprised to get out of the yard... |

Re: Westerbeke 46 rear seal

Re: Westerbeke 46 rear seal

Re: Westerbeke 46 rear seal
Me too. BTW the picture in post 76 is the original seal not the new one. My wife just informed me that she never sent the Mitsubishi seal back in (???? don't ask - maybe it was destiny), so I'm... |

Re: Westerbeke 46 rear seal
The mitsubishi part does have matching bolt holes but the ID of the seal is too large... Anyhow... this may be moot. I finally located an OEM part IN STOCK and I am having it overnighted.... |

Re: Westerbeke 46 rear seal
No go. The seal in the kit does not work with the Westerbeke. The westerebeke rear seal is in fact one piece. With that said... the ID of the seal and the seal lip seem to be a match, which does not... |

Re: Westerbeke 46 rear seal
I posted a picture of the seal back in post #26. The issue is not the metalic portion, its the rubber seal which is adhered to both the flat rim that faces the engine and the inside rim. I... |

Re: Westerbeke 46 rear seal
We are in St. Augustine... I'll try and get those dimensions. Unfortunately, the way the engine sits in the bilge area, its very very hard to get accurate dimensions. It was bad enough removing... |
