Havent used FastSeas, other than to play w it a little, but typically weather routing algorithms avoid land masses. Ive never encountered one that would route you down a canal/channel.

InReach cannot receive email. Text messages only. Its tedious to send weather/routing via text, but it can be done. Chris Parker will do it, but its not the prefered method.

Definately one of the pro's of InReach vs most other gear for the boat is that it can be used for many other activities. I take mine hiking, camping, biking, 4WD'ing, kayaking...even on an easy day...

Yes, and paired with a phone/tablet is a much better interface for messaging or viewing charts/maps.

Without that the display is so small as to not be very practical. Also the selection of...
