I know the prices are high but think of what you'd have to pay as a tow operator. You need to have captains sitting there ready to go (which costs money), you need enough boats available just hanging...

Yeah pretty much; they can charge you whatever they want.

If you think assistance towing is some untapped market run by a few money grubbing crooks go ahead and start an operation of your own....
