Re: Connect ST7000/Type 1 AP to NMEA2000 using E22158

I remember that. I did not try that. The AP and N2k are all turned on with the same breaker. I did try to turn the N2k on, then plug in the converter, and it was the same.

I was re-reading the...

Re: Connect ST7000/Type 1 AP to NMEA2000 using E22158

never thought of doing that..so you have 2 devices connected to a single port on ST1. sweet. got to try it. Had the boat 7 seasons.. never used the remote!

Re: Connect ST7000/Type 1 AP to NMEA2000 using E22158

There are 2 ST1 ports on the APs computer, one going to the control panel, one to the wired remote control (which I will disconnect and use that port) All are bare wires, so I had to cut the ST1 end...

Re: Connect ST7000/Type 1 AP to NMEA2000 using E22158

Re: Connect ST7000/Type 1 AP to NMEA2000 using E22158

Right I understand there is no cable.

Do you have it set up with the converter as the last connection on the n2k backbone and using a STng terminator?

Your wind tranducers on the n2k...

Thanks.. so you had a Seatalk-1 (ST1) Autopilot(AP) trying to send rudder to a N2k system and get wind data from the n2k system to the ST1 AP?

I initially installed the ST1 to STng converter as a...

Re: Connect ST7000/Type 1 AP to NMEA2000 using E22158

Since I'd have to buy n2k cables to splice, it is easier and less expensive to just buy the n2k to STng cable premade

Re: Connect ST7000/Type 1 AP to NMEA2000 using E22158

They do have documentation but doesn't show everything. It even says so in the manual. I also didn't read it! LOL.

They should have at least shown how to connect it to a n2k network, as it is...

Re: Connect ST7000/Type 1 AP to NMEA2000 using E22158

you mentioned earlier that it has to be at the end of the network. That can be done easily (just need to get a different STng to N2k cable)

so I would
1) remove the n2k terminator off my...
