Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft

You'll be lucky to make 6 knots under sail with fuel to motor 1500 miles. 37' cats are not expedition boats or not in the sense you are apparently used to. Keep up the good work and the accounting...

Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft

Probably the original snowgoose hulls were the one you're referring to. The Elite hulls I would guess have done quite a bit less voyaging and are greatly compromised as the step aft is nearly always...

Re: modernizing a prout elite 37ft

Atoll, I guess this was around post 6 or so. Now, you're doing a bang up job that's for sure. But I'm still uncertain as to the overall quality of the results based on the fact the hulls themselves...

On the prouts I always thought the red looked good.

Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft

That's what I've been saying since the 1st post! Bet it sails like one also!

Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft

I'll take 4 of them.

Careful not to get to much epoxy on the key board!

Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft

Certainly some interesting engineering on that drive leg! Be interested to hear how it performs.

Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft

I looked at buying a snow goose classic a few years and thought the strainer was in one hull near the waterline. Not sure, but have friends with a snow goose 35 nearby and will have look at theirs...

Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft

The hatch location might actually be good if there is no hatch cutout yet. Nice flat are for mast base and blocks, etc. I don't think the bulkhead would be strong enough alone. I was suggesting a...

Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft

One other thought of serious note, it looked like the rig you had is just a temp one?

I almost bought an older Snowgoose classic and would have moved the rig forward to give the rig a more...

Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft

Wow, twin 35 hp diesels and 60 gallons of diesel in each hull in a Snowgoose?

who needs wind!

Re: modernizing a prout elite 37ft

I don't mean to pick on you, but I would give some serious thought to redoing the aft say 6' of each hull to give a proper transom and more displacement aft. I have never seen a prout out cruising...

Re: modernizing a prout elite 37ft

These boats can't handle the weight of twin diesels. Clearly you're not concerned with these type of realities so have at it!

Re: modernizing a prout elite 37ft

In all fairness this is like remodeling a house sitting on a cracked foundation.

if you want something other than a Prout you should get something other than a Prout. These boats function OK as...
