Exactly, put in in the marine enviroment and voila!! thats why in a boat perform poorly... bolts, tangs, screws, pulpits, etc... we can agree that ss is the main reason for loosing a mast.... and...

Yeah the ignorant who say ss is dangerous is me mate, so far so good you can take it with a grain of salt... but its a fact, SS its a poor material in a marine enviroment.. easy to inspect?? cmon...

Well in Europe there is a bunch of production boats starting to mould the chainplates in the hulls, X yachts or Hanse, Solaris , Oyster.. for example, obviously in a old boat dont make to much sense...

Zee, the whole swan line is done with composite chainplates, not a single failure...

CF plates in the last CF cutters from BoB Perry..
Hanse is building in composite cf plates to.
And my 2 cents this is the future regarding chainplates since ss is a dangerous material in a boat,...

Zee, a L strike can desintegrate a FG hull to, if the stick is bonded to the keel i guess the chances are nil.. :thumb:

This is the same thing I was thinking,, so far i dont found any bad report from a cf plate failing, guess the chances to be holed or t boned are low V a corroded or cracked ss plate, plus they are...

I have no idea,, im just Reading all the tech stuff, one thing is for sure, ss plates could be the 40% of dismasting cases and the composite plates are out there since a while, maybe they design...

I just read some news the other day regarding CF chainplates in the SA fórum.. Looks promising , i see this concept in few megayachts , larges swans and in some Wally´s.. Looks like future buyers...
