A caged prop is not uncommon with some commercial boats. |

I would think a full keeled boat would be less likely. If that's yours and you sail the Gulf south, draft would be my concern more than warps. I like them with a keel hung rudder. |

I've used blocking off air to stop a shot diesel running on sump oil. I'm wondering if using it to prohibit starting might not load the cylinders up with fuel? It might be a small aggravation if it... |

I'm not sure where the proper marine diesel idea came from, that it has a decompression lever? |

Why make it difficult. It might pay to try the line on a winch, while in neutral prior to trying bumping it in reverse with the starter. In all likelihood it's going to require getting wet. |

Using the starter to turn the prop in reverse while maintaining tension on the line is worth a try. Next go overboard with a good knife. A serrated bread knife works well. It is more scallops than... |
