I did what you suggested and sure enough It shows sat pics. They show the cursor position, so I presume they are GPS correct and navigable.
What I actually expected was standard charts similar to...

KAP files problem

I downloaded a bunch of KAP files recently and Opencpn does not want to display them properly. They show as a basic green layout, without any details what so ever.
I have kap files for NZ and AUS...
