Not sure what the lore is but in my case I never think of it as chain necessarily offering a better chance to set or hold an anchor, just a lot better at not being shredded by a rock or debris or... |

BTW as a side note, if you stick with more nylon and less chain, be aware that nylon stretches like a rubber band. In a good breeze with a lot of rode out, you may get the impression, or alarm, that... |

Perhaps a better question is, how best to adapt a Swan 40 to cruising? BTW this is a Frers designed Swan 40? 1986? Could it be a '96 instead? Maybe you have the Holland Swan 43? on edit, ah, it... |
