3mm is a smidge bigger than 1/8", but boy does that sound tiny saying it aloud! I've only bought metric wire much bigger......

Both my 19' and 22' use 1/8th, so again.... 12mm is WAY oversized... I think a turnbuckle with 6mm threading is fairly common...
