In all honesty it is hard to understand that and to correlate it with the fact that aluminum fresh water tanks rot out, and aluminum black water tanks especially fast, apparently even fuel tanks.

I asked cause mine are now 30 yrs old. If I replace them, it’s the last Achilles heel I have, but they are stupid expensive to replace on my boat, usually the water tank goes first, and fuel tanks...

Actually almost all modern automotive tanks are plastic.
My last three trucks were anyway.
Plastic doesn’t rust and is easily moldable into complex shapes and more crashworthy than steel tanks.

From my understanding SS fuel tanks don’t last any longer than aluminum, or Iron.
Monel or Titanium May be the only real long lived metals for small Boat tanks, both not cheap, so why not plastic?...

Search on their site for fuel tank dip tube came up with this.
There is one with a longer tube too ,but didn’t see it....

No idea, I bought some at the West Marine store in Panama City Fl a couple of years ago.

Copper can indeed be a serious problem in an aluminum fuel tank.
West Marine sells dip tubes that the elbow is aluminum and the tube a white plastic of some sort, cut the plastic tube to length of...
