An Albin 30 and a Melges 30 both have ballast to displacement ratios greater than 40%, with the Melges having its vcg much lower. |

+1, slow her up to 10 or 20% faster than the heavyweight or bare off 5 or 10* so you are still sailing closer to the true wind than the heavyweight. Either will comfort the ride. |

Barnie I know its a joke -- take the formula to its ridiculous extreme and it becomes funny . I just think people take these formulas to seriously. You have to look at the specific boat. I know it... |

Not. Using the various screening formulas for rough comparisons is fine, but trying to interpret them without some rational thought of the actual boats is not productive. A boat with 1.9 CSF vs one... |
