Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
There IS and HAS BEEN a daily Notice to Mariners for that pass in general. Anyone >3' should avoid or use extreme caution. |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
The Pinellas Sheriff frowns on the idea of anyone going out there trying to mark the wreck. Nikki and Tanner are trying to do the right thing at this point and the Sheriff's Dept is staying on... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
Maritime liens are very different animals depending on whether the boat is documented or not. For good information and a pretty decent guy for an attorney, see: Ask The Attorney – The Log... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
NO. CG has nothing to do with it. They will save you, and they will maintain aids to navigation. They don't recover vessels or even tow unless it is to save the vessel from peril, but they are... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
Read through their Go Fund Me, it is on there in all fairness. BTW, two sailboats hit the shoal today. One we are not sure exactly what he got, but he came in taking on water to the point... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
OK. First article states they got a quote at a cost of $6700 to remove the boat. AND that was the first order of business. Second they started a go fund me site to raise the money JUST TO... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
I have doubt that Go Fund Me cares. They are leaving the money in there to extend it as long as possible as donations continue to come in. All they have to do is press a button and all of that... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
I think the odds have gone from 50-1 to 100-1. Someone posted this and tells a story of a person who may have no issues walking away from a debt. The IRS and Sallie Mae will eventually get their... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
In all fairness, we need to give them a chance to respond and do the right thing before calling them liars or anything as harsh. As long as I have to avoid that wreck, and know who owns it and they... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
They may be great people, but they have the classic no money but entitled, the world owes us young cruiser attitude that has so many sunken boats in Florida when they can't afford to maintain the... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
It is not easy to clean up a mess left by someone else unless there is a declaration of disaster - clean up after a hurricane. There is a long drawn out process to try and go after people who... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
1. Navionics Charts get it right. In this case. Since Irma, they are hounding us to upload more soundings, which we are. The pass is pretty dead on right now on the sonar chart. See the... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
From someone who lives two blocks from the inlet, I can tell you that I would not do that inlet without a prior GPS track high tide and calm seas and instead go up to Pass-a-Grill and under two lift... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
Check out the CG Notice to Mariners. Look at the Navionics Sounder Charts online. The marker is moved to mark the encroaching shoal and is still not in a good spot. Daily Notice to Mariners... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
Here is what burns me. This couple received over 15K in donations and the damn boat is still a very bad hazard to navigation just under the water now at green marker #3. Everyone has an opinion... |
