If it were me I wouldn't mess with the centerboard at this point. Not needed for the trip home so as my grandfather would say "Leave well enough alone."

I bought an old trawler and it had an outboard type bulb pump on it. It was deteriorating with cracks nearly all the way through. I replaced it with a new one and after just a few years the new one...
