Re: Tow a Tandem Island behind a 30'er?
Wow, that is a great idea! I've been trying to sell it for $6000, willing to take $5000, but nobody in my landlocked area can afford it. I could probably ship it for the $1000 I'm willing to lose on... |

Re: Tow a Tandem Island behind a 30'er?
I decided to buy a Zodiac Zoom Aero 8.6' from defender for about half what a new welded seam inflatable costs and a Suzuki 6hp engine. Sold the Walker Bay and the davits to my slip neighbor for $200... |

Re: Tow a Tandem Island behind a 30'er?
I have the oars. I don't want to row. If I take the Hobie, of course I'd be prepared to cut it loose if I needed to. Sure are a lot of people here who plan crossings in bad weather... |

Re: Tow a Tandem Island behind a 30'er?
You can't put an 18' Trimaran, or even just the kayak, on the deck of a Catalina 30. The Walker Bay 8 barely fit and covered the anchor locker, which will be a hazard if arriving in heavy weather. ... |

Re: Tow a Tandem Island behind a 30'er?
I don't have the tube. I have tried a 29 pound Honda 2.3 on it. The boat nearly flips over backwards when attaching the motor. Then to steer it, you must be sitting on the floor in front of the... |

Re: Tow a Tandem Island behind a 30'er?
Thanks! That's really relevant. My boat is 5 feet larger, so that should help. I tether everything, but if I were doing a crossing, I wouldn't have anything installed on the Hobie anyway. Last... |

Re: Tow a Tandem Island behind a 30'er?
I don't have a problem. I was just wondering if I would be creating one. I'm starting to feel a little optimistic about it now. |

Re: Tow a Tandem Island behind a 30'er?
I could possibly detach the amas and carry them on the deck for crossings. Then, I'd only be towing an 18' kayak. |

Tow a Tandem Island behind a 30'er?
Hoping I don't get laughed out of here, but I have a 1989 Catalina 30 with a Walker 8 hanging from davits. It's pretty useless for anything but rowing, as any motor you add to it is too heavy and... |
