Re: Induction vs Gas Cooking

Noelex and Adelie are both right. And there are times when it seems the sun has just gone. Like now. Fourth day of overcast and rain with more to come. In Florida. So, some supplement to PV is...

Re: Induction vs Gas Cooking

But to get back to the OP's question ... Induction, by all means. Yes it takes the same amount of energy to cook a given amount of food, no matter how supplied. But, the real difference is how...

Re: Induction vs Gas Cooking

And I should clarify that the '8 kW' inverters are rated in Chinese watts -- really only good for about 3 kW each, but that is enough to run everything we have.

Yes 12v. If we were doing it...

Re: Induction vs Gas Cooking

We have posted before, but a long time ago. Finally getting more active. Maybe should make a web-site, but have not yet gotten a round 'tuit.'

Yes Expected Insolation should be considered,...

Re: Concrete Sealer on Wood?

Thanks for the feedback. Especially Goodoldwoody and Ironman162. Your experience sounds very promising. I have applied H&C Clear Solvent Based Concrete Sealer on the Southern Yellow Pine cap...

Concrete Sealer on Wood?

The word around the yard here is that Concrete Sealers, such as H&C, are very good at protecting Bare Aluminum spars. Theses sealers are basically Acrylics and so are pretty much immune to the UV...

Re: Induction cook-top and inverter compatibility

Seems so. What I am looking for is which with which.

I am ready to junk both the Senken and the Cobra 2575 inverter, but a clue as to what to try next would be super useful.

Re: Induction cook-top and inverter compatibility

Nimblemotors: Sorry, the 1.2kW inverter output reading was when it was powering a waterheater, not the Senken. When connected to the Senken it shows 50w output. The Senken shows 800w or 300w on...

Re: Induction cook-top and inverter compatibility

Wow -- thanks for the quick replies.

The rated power for the unit is 1.8kW (15amp @120vAC) We normally run it at 800 watts on one 'hob' and 300 on the other, usually only one at a time, but it...

Induction cook-top and inverter compatibility

We have a very nice Senken two 'burner' stove top which works nicely from shore power, but refuses to heat anything when run from our Cobra 2500 watt (continuous, 5000 watt 'surge') inverter. One...

Re: Sextant Use

wsmurdoch: great idea for a sextant timepiece. Should not be too difficult to put such a thing together using existing clock, gps and LCD chips. The technology is all there -- just needs system...

Re: Sextant Use

Adelie, I have not looked into these 'S' tables, but have read of some alternate versions of H.O.211 published recently. Reviews were not totally favourable. I like the old fonts in Ageton, they...

The parts have been committed to S/V Alchemy.

Also, the field of view is more like ten moon diameters, not six, for either scope.
