Re: Newport Boat Show
Thanks. I've since checked the Dockwa app for slips and/or moorings. There seems to be places to tie up, which is surprising in itself, and the rates also look fairly reasonable considering the size... |

Newport Boat Show
How impossible is it to find a decent anchorage in Newport, RI during the boat show? Should I just plan on getting there by land? |

Re: Couple and dogs rescued after months at sea
Just as an aside, I guess, I'd like to just clarify one thing: Just in the first few posts, I saw some less than complimentary references to the "go now crowd". The impression, clearly, is that... |

Re: HI->Tahiti Dingbats found after 5 months
Another thing I find strange is that - at least one article said - they didn't start making "distress calls" until nearly two months after they first left Hawaii (May 3). Their trouble apparently... |

What is the distinction you seem to be drawing between odd and fishy? |

Re: How did you get bitten?
Signed-up for Community Boating on the Charles River in Boston when I was 10 (1977). Joined a sailing club on Boston Harbor when I got older, and crewed on a delivery from the Bahamas to Boston in... |

Re: Ugh, losing my patience
Can't help you with the girlfriend or the home sale, but as far as the business you sold goes - DON'T LOOK BACK! You owe them nothing as long as all the proper disclosures were made and the new... |

Boston people!
I'm having a mental block, and it's driving me crazy. Does anybody remember a dusty old nautical book/chart store in Boston that closed (probably) in the late 80's? I believe it was on Commercial... |

Re: Belize: Assault and Robbery at Sea
The "fences" know who committed the robbery, and if the Belizean authorities were truly serious about catching them or curbing this type of activity, then they could have used much harsher sentencing... |

Re: Max length = 26 feet
I understand, and I agree. If my plan was to replace this 26-footer with another Nonsuch (30' or 36') a few years down the road, then it'd be a no-brainer. (Personally, I think the 26 is the most... |

Re: Max length = 26 feet
I hear you, but the only thing that really drew me to the Nonsuch was the interior volume. And while that would be nice, I couldn't convince myself that it's worth roughly 2 1/2 times the cost for a... |

Re: Max length = 26 feet
Leaning toward the Ericson now for the following reasons: 1) Half the money 2) Whatever I get, isn't the "dream boat"; it's a stepping stone 3) Next boat after this will likely be a larger... |

Re: Why doesn't this beautiful catamaran sell?
At 67, with bad knees and worried about resale value, I think I'd just look for an early 2000's Nordhavn. Cheaper, easier on the old joints, easier to dock/moor and haul out etc, beautiful,... |

Re: Need help spending $80k on a liveaboard
I've always thought the Cape Dory 36 would be an ideal liveaboard for a single guy with an eye for traditional lines and simple living. But if you're determined to go smaller, have a look at the... |

Re: Max length = 26 feet
There are certainly lots of boats out there that will "do". I guess my main question is whether the Nonsuch would hinder my desire to become a better sailor if I get a bigger boat - that probably... |
