Hi Tjurd, I thought I knew the answer before I read through your post but discovered that you know you have a 10mm gypsy as denoted by the "10" on your photo, but having now read through two times I...

Re: Balmar 90 and 7 series. What to expect?

Thanks for kind and informative replies gents.

Anyone knows where to find the exact physical dimensions of the 12si? Last time I googled Delco didn't provide it, neither did the several car alt...

Re: Balmar 90 and 7 series. What to expect?

What am I missing? isn't the 12si a much much better alternator than the 10si? Or is it physically too large for your average sail boat engine installatation? Why would anyone choose the 10 over the...

Re: Alternator options???

My personal favorite is the Delco 12SI. I don't have that at the moment but it is high on my list for the next alternator.

Re: Can I Turbo a Stock Diesel?

If I was buying a sailing boat and there were two identical ones except one with a turbo engine and other with a NA one, I would chooce the NA engine boat every time. Better reliability, cheaper to...

Re: Lewmar H3 Windlass Disassembly help needed

I believe the H3 will work ok for good many years still. The problem might be the corrosion of the aluminum, and imho the paint on the aluminum does not help at all. I would make sure all the SS...

Re: Need new alternator regulator

The Ample Power regulator mentioned is in the $450 range or did I view a wrong model? Balmar 614 with the harness and the two tempretature sensors (sold seperately mostly) comes to about $470, so are...

Re: Lewmar H3 Windlass Disassembly help needed

I just googled something like "Lofrans Tigres windlass price UK"; most prices were including VAT (I believe 20% in England now?), so tax free price at lowest was about GBP 790 or a tad under USD1100....
