My wife does have some experience sailing from years ago on the gr8 lakes, but , we would both go to a course together before we chartered "solo".

Seems like 5 grand a month is healthy allowance for life if you do little more than live rather than vacation. I’ve lived on far less… I’d like to live on far more!
60,000 a year should get you...
