Re: To rebuild engine or not... that is the question

With this amount of hours and age, I would purchase a new engine if you are planning on going any real distance from home. Otherwise a touch up and replacement of mounts should be ok.

Re: A solution for derelict boats!

If it is like here in Canada you will find most of the abandoned boats have gone through a few owners and have never been registered. When you investigate the hull numbers etc you find out that the...

Re: How to power a cpap machine on a boat?

Hi, Turn off the heat function first as that draws amps. You can purchase a 12 volt adapter for most of the models. I use mine with a small inverter and have never had a problem with battery power...

Re: Forced at gunpoint to jump off a sailboat in the Exumas

[quoted text redacted]

Maybe an anonymous call to certain "agencies" about "stuff" he maybe carrying on his boat would make his life difficult in the future.

Re: 4 weeks Alaska cruise / camp - Where to start if you have a trailer as an option?

Would you haul a 33ft boat all the way from Florida to Alaska on a trailer? I certainly would not. Unless it was aluminium or steel.

Re: 4 weeks Alaska cruise / camp - Where to start if you have a trailer as an option?

Thats what i would do. You would not want to drive a trailerable boat all the way to Alaska, there probably would not much of it left on the trailer when you got there. Seattle to Desolation Sound...

Re: Urgent request from local boaters

Try telling that to the Mexican's when they catch you for the second time. I suspect that your boat will probably stick out like a sore thumb when it enters US waters.

Re: License for sailing my own boat

Yes you do need it to operate any kind of boat with a motor. Its one of the most useless ever pieces of work ever done by the Feds. My son at 11 years old took the test at a boat show and passed and...

Re: Canada acceptance of USCG Licenses and permission to work there?

RYA is not recognised in Canada for commercial purposes. You will need to do all of the Transport Canada required course like Med A3 or 2, SVOP, VHF.
