Re: If not GenuineDealz, then who?

I've had great luck with Genuine Dealz in the past. My other go-to is https://tinnedmarinewire.com/ for custom cables and other marine electric gear.

Re: Chunk of stern tube broke...ideas? (photos included)

The fine folks at Porte Cervo boatyard in Sardinia ground out my damaged stern tube and glassed in a fiberglass tube that they had laying around. Then they slipped on a Volvo Shaft Seal for my...

Re: California to Europe

Wow lots of strange advice here for you to weed through, particularly "head east across the Atlantic in late-summer."

Your biggest challenge is Panama to the eastern Caribbean. You want to do it...

Re: Sailing around the world - What Monohull would you buy?

Excellent coverage of this topic at Mahina Expeditions - Selecting A Boat for Offshore Cruising (https://www.mahina.com/cruise.html)

Better to first cross an ocean with Mahina or 59North.

Re: Circuit breakers and fuses

I just re-wired my 1976 Islander 36. Where possible I sized the circuit breakers to the appliances they serve. No need for additional fusing downstream.

Even with various pumps and the fridge, I...

Re: Toilet paper questions

Of course you can flush TP down any manual or electric head. Just be smart about it, meaning a courtesy flush for heavier loads and plenty of flushing water.

Re: Considering upgrading to electric macerating toilet

Re: Tracking for family and friends

As for tracking, has anyone had luck with the AIS transponders that send "AIS message 27" to satellites? Seems like a nice way to minimize the equipment needed for tracking.

"These SOTDMA units...

Re: Anyone using auto bilge pump for shower sump?

I like this electronic water sensor. Stays on for 15 seconds after the water drops below the low mark.

Re: Anyone using auto bilge pump for shower sump?

Unless you're a real princess-and-the-pea type, the Whale Gulper 220 works great without much racket. In fact, I use it as a light-duty bilge pump.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.612 Beta Test

Until OpenCPN handles incoming Active Waypoint nmea info from the chartplotter, and fixes its convoluted way of uploading waypoints and routes to the chartplotter, I'll be sticking with MacENC.

Re: Mac ENC-Raster Charts + w/Mojave OS

Re: Showing WP Data from Chartplotter

Tupaia, thanks again.

Snore, I also want OpenCPN to display active waypoint information received from the chartplotter (Garmin 76s) at the helm. But I've given up. I just don't think OpenCPN has this functionality.

Tupaia, thanks so much, the first link you mentioned was a great help! I'm now able to upload waypoints with ease, and entire routes (in a clumsy workaround).

But... when I activate a waypoint in...
