Re: Show of hands: who actually chartered boats before buying?
Different people grow with very different relationships with boats. I find the "I Should Have Had a V-8" group fascinating. They are in their 40s, 50s, or even later and they wake up one day with... |

Re: FREE, or close to free!
My point was simply some of the 1960s boats were not necessarily the most stunning lookers but are great sailers. And please keep the (WTF) to yourself. |

Re: FREE, or close to free!
It made me shake my head. Just because the person might not be the most glamorous person at the ball doesn't mean they don't know how to dance, IMHO. |

Re: Looking at a really nice boat, but those decks...
Folks, Maybe we should be thinking on a larger scale? Perhaps we should form a company called www.oldboatinterventions.com? |

Re: FREE, or close to free!
Hi, John! Believe me, you are preaching to the choir. I will not mention any names or specifically which one, but here is one that was posted "Right Here in River City." It is just one example... |

Re: Just got a cat, but not a Lagoon
Please feel free to share any cat stories about sailing with cats. I know, crasy as it seems, but I found my cat in a shelter and we shook paws on it. A deal is a deal. |

Re: Japan to Alaska
Phil, Wow! I would like to follow your course if you have a plan of putting it on line or if you have a page. Good luck! |

Re: FREE, or close to free!
Okay, I will weigh in on this one. My father owned a yacht brokerage in CA. So, I have sailed on more than one sailboat. Having said that, one of the funnest adventures I have ever had was... |

Re: Looking at a really nice boat, but those decks...
Alansmith, your reply to this question is the cold, stale, sailing sandwich of boat repair, lol. I would rather you walk up to my boat and shoot a hole in it than mess with that deck. |

Re: Looking at a really nice boat, but those decks...
Scott, If you were looking for the extreme sport in horrific punishments to inflict on a person in the Middle Ages that they hadn't thought of yet, give them a 1970s boat with a core/deck problem.... |

Re: Schengen Area - Boat vs. Yacht Length = A Consistent Bill Rate
Sailormed, I hope I can return the favor someday, thank you. I have noticed that there are sites online where you can "book your dock," yet on the other hand, I have also read logs by skippers... |

Schengen Area - Boat vs. Yacht Length = A Consistent Bill Rate
Most of my sailing experience in blue water has been in the Pacific, both Eastern and Western. Thus, I have a question about docking fees as related to length, specifically as related to France and... |

Re: New to the forum
You might check the weight on that outboard vs. the weight of the Volvo engine that your Columbia 9.6 came with. A 120hp outboard can weigh in at 450+ lbs. It depends on which model Volvo they put... |

Greetings!
I suppose I will introduce myself as that is what folks do. It turns out that the name of Melville's harpooner "Queequeg" was taken, so I used my first name, "Tim," and added "Queg" to it to see if... |
