Basic DIY Lightning Protection?

In anticipation of bad weather and in the absence of any professional lightning strike protection on my boat yet, I recently got suggested to hang a heavy-duty jumper cable from my stay into the...

Re: Stuffing Box - Setup and adjustment questions

I did that yesterday. I realised with the shaft not turning it is very hard to push the grease through by just screwing in the cap, so I tried while running the engine and that turned out to work...

Re: Stuffing Box - Setup and adjustment questions

Hi, thanks for your feedback.

I did use Teflon GFO 6.4mm packing rather Graphite (I stated that wrong in my initial posting). I have 4 rings in there. They nicely did fit in, so I think they are...

Re: Stuffing Box - Setup and adjustment questions

Great, that solves one mystery. So you use a grease gun to pump the grease into a plastic tube that is fitted to the thread? I guess a small hose connected to the fitting one side and to the grease...

Re: Stuffing Box - Setup and adjustment questions

I thought about this too. It hasn't got any grease nipple or thread inside to attach a nipple. There is only a thread on the outside for the cap, or eventually to connect a hose?

Re: Polyethylene dinghy - Custom attachments / Eye Pads

Polyethylene dinghy - Custom attachments / Eye Pads

I'm owning a cheap polyethylene dinghy which proofed to be very stable and robust. One disadvantage of this bargain buy is that all eye pads to attach lines are not very well designed and placed. I'm...

We have an auto bilge pump that's super quiet with an integral level sensor. It has some smarts so it doesn't switch on and off all the bloody time. ...
