Re: Stray Current found - need fix advice

UFO, not sure what you meant by your anode fix of removing battery switches from the circuit. What circuit?

Re: Need advice from corrosion experts

I can use the help from a corrosion survey. I’m on the eastern CT coast on Long Island Sound; can anyone recommend a good corrosion surveyor?

Re: Keel "Deposits" - What are they?

Manateeman, the keel bolts are clean and tight. JC Reefer, the substance dissolves in vinegar (takes several hours) but does not bubble. Not a lot of coral in Long Island Sound off the CT coast but...

Re: Keel "Deposits" - What are they?

Thanks for responding, Manateeman. The keel is external lead with barrier coat. I have had to sand and epoxy some areas from time to time when white crusty spots have appeared before but this is a...

Keel "Deposits" - What are they?

We pulled our Cal33 last week and found rounded lumps of material on the keel's port side. They pop/scrape off and crumble into white powder. Here are two photos. What is this stuff?

Re: Pod or no pod

Thanks to all who responded. I’m going to try a pod I was able to find at Mystic Marine Consignment (new and in the box but inexpensive). The inability to swivel it or adjust the angle are the...

Filling navpod holes

I ended up going with a Navpod for my new MFD and found one in a consignment shop. It’s new but precut for different display. Fits almost perfectly but two of the predrilled holes peek out from the...

Re: Pod or no pod

Good input Jim. At our dock in Westbrook, CT we are surrounded by pods, but they are almost all 35 ft and above boats. Our Cal33 has a lot less cockpit space, hence my dilemma.

Re: Pod or no pod

Thanks Bycrick. Your points are well taken. My cockpit is a bit cramped so wanted to avoid a slanted pedestal guard if possible.

Pod or no pod

I’m installing a B&G Vulcan display in the cockpit (sailboat) and wonder if it really needs to be in a pod e.g. Navpod or similar. The display is rated IXP6 & 7 so is reasonably watertight and I have...

Wind instrument malfunction

Re: Securing set screw

Thanks for your responses. GordMay, you are correct, I simply want to prevent set screw from loosening. Regular "blue" Loctite seems to be incompatible with plastics so looking for alternative.

Securing set screw

Any suggestions on securing a metal set screw in a composite housing on wind instrument set? I know some materials are not compatible with plastics.

Re: BRUNTONS PROPELLERS GIVEAWAY - ends Feb 16th

https://www.bruntonspropellers.com/varifold

The Varifold prop has received great reviews and performed very well in comparison tests. I'd love to put one on my Cal33.
