Used for four years. This is the four-wire 120/240V 50A set. Defender prices are $180 for the inlet, $848 for the 50' cord, and $120 for the extra connector.

The extra connector is currently on...

Re: Is diesel-electric or all-electric the future?

It’s a 220V AC generator, though, not 48V DC? The 5kW chargers convert the AC output to 48V to charge the batteries?

Re: Is diesel-electric or all-electric the future?

Is this an AC generator then? Around on the boat or installed for this purpose?

Re: OCT Offshore Cruising Tender

I am testing some options from Torqeedo on our carbon fibre OC350 - an 1103 and a Cruise 4.0 with the 48-5000 battery.

I looked at ePropulsion but the Navy 3 and E40 battery are both heavier than...

Re: 31.2Kw Victron LiFePO4 Split System Install

The alternative would be a full isolation transformer and for your 50A/12kW of charging you’d be looking at a rather large and heavy piece of equipment.

Termodinamica makes a 24VDC air conditioner...

Re: 31.2Kw Victron LiFePO4 Split System Install

I’m familiar with the Autotransformer, and use one after a 230V Multiplus to get 115V power.

Have you had the boat on shore power long enough to determine whether the galvanic isolator is doing...

Are you using isolation transformers while on shore power?

Re: Boat internet system recommendations

I have two 1" x 14 threaded posts available, so the OMNI 402 MIMO antenna would be ideal for cellular leaving the second post available for wifi (and like mentioned above, too bad Poynting doesn't...

Re: Boat internet system recommendations

If we want two cell, two wifi, and another GPS (do we really need GPS on the pepwave) then a 5-in-1 might be the only option. Did you look at the Poynting MIMO-3-V2-15 5-in-1?

Re: Boat internet system recommendations

I'm looking for some help with antenna selection for a Peplink MAX BR1 MK2.

The BR1 has connections for two cellular antennas. It looks like this is for MIMO and not diversity, and that MIMO is...

Re: Boat internet system recommendations

I think he means it has its own SIM card and thus an independent cell line, vs. a repeater that boosts an already existing cell phone or tablet.

Re: Boat internet system recommendations

Do you recommend keeping antenna lengths as short as possible? I know Wirie used to make a big deal about that. I have a semi-protected spot inside the enclosed arch under the bimini, and I already...

Re: Boat internet system recommendations

I'm using a Wirie mounted on the bimini of our catamaran, primarily for cellular but occasional wifi. I'm no longer using the built in access point (although there doesn't seem to be a way to disable...

I'm looking at the same combo. Has anyone compared the Ocean Signal MOB1 with the ACR 2886 MOB Beacon?

Re: St. Francis 50: "Wayfinder"

Last summer we did a battery/alternator/solar refit on Banana (hull #14). Two 12V 600 Ah Lithionics for a total of roughly 14.4kw, and two American Power 360A 12V alternators. We also added about 50%...

Can you share a bit about what you sent over? The logistics of outfitting a boat being built so far away are of interest to me. Thanks!
