This guide may be fine for regular fly in tourists, but may lack relevance for cruising sailors.
e.g. to my knowledge ports in Jamaica are not open to foreign cruising boats at this time.

Since you are replacing the shaft anyway, just cut it. If ever there was a job for a reciprocating saw, this is it. Very easy to go thru the bronze shaft.

More than once I have solved (maybe the same problem) by:
Disconnecting the shift cable.
Removing the shift actuator cover (4 bolts).
See if you can shift it using a...

I only know two reasons sailing from Florida to Jamaica is considered a hard sail:*
#1 is this large island, Cuba, that's directly in the way making you choose to either go east around or west...

My CD33 mid water tank is polyethylene. I have sucessfully "welded" that material before with a torch and scrap tupperware.

Stuffing box hose replacement

On my Cape Dory 33 the aft end of my stuffing box hose is so tight where the hull narrows down that no hose clamps can fit.
Would I glue the new hose to the tube?

You can explore all the coastal anchorages, but you are required to get a customs coastwise permit which (technically) requires you to check in and out in each...

In the Caribbean alcohol is getting quite hard to find.
Propane/butane is available everywhere (I've been).
Propane is MUCH more economical.

I spend a lot of time aboard in Port Antonio, Portland parish (lowest crime and most beautiful parish in Jamaica)
Cruisers should also check out the crimes against cruising boats at the Caribbean...
