Re: Washer/drier yes or no what brand

IMHO We have a Panda washer (see Internet) it is 120VAC and does not have a dryer but it spins so dry that you only have to hang the clothes in the saloon for a short time. We have used it for over a...

Great advice from everyone. I just made the trip from N.B. To Sausalito. We were ( 2 guys) in my buddies 80 Cheoy Lee MY. We were in fog from about Point Buchan north, especially at night....

Re: Sequence of events during purchase?

I was a broker for 40 years and you are correct "the seller owes you nothing except your expenses until the boat is paid in full." Sellers and buyer's can back out of any deal for any reason until...

Re: Cruising in your mid-50's stories - did it happen/didn't it happen?

Great responses to your post. I can only add that you can always work, sailing is a physical endeavor and it helps to be as young as you can afford. As on person said go NOW!

Re: Sounds Strange to me?

Scam, I would report it to PayPal they are very upstanding people and hate scams. This is the first I have heard of someone using PayPal.
Maybe the scam is to get the money in your PayPal acct and...

Re: Does bow thruster increase a boats value?

Interesting posts, I doubt that anyone posting ever tried to back a full keel boat in a narrow fairway. I have... The result is that if you do not know the term "back and fill" you own a fin keel...

Re: Declaring a boat as your primary residence?

If you paid WA income tax, oops no income tax in WA. If you had a slip that you paid rent to a marina that might help with the Peoplws Republic of OR.
Did you change your DL license to WA, that...

Re: Help with coolant leak

Hi
You might try Barr's Stopleak as a last resort prior to replacing the HE. Put it in the coolant resivoir and run the engine for about an hour. My brother a BMW in the San Fran area has had good...

Re: Overheated my Perkins! What damages?

One thing I would add is a "no water alarm" in the intake line after the sea strainer. Pretty cheap, about $100 installed with a unique sound so that you recognize that you have low or no sea water...

Re: It's down to two your thoughts

Both boats will get you to the Bahamas, the OI 41's have been around the world. I would hate to see you pay more than $25K for either. Both will need your care, love, attention, and about $30-$50K.

Re: Tayana 37 v Corbin 39

Guess I would ask the surveyor (JR) about the cored deck "working" as well, almost all decks are cored. We have seen several cored boats that are doing well and are 25-35 years old. More about the...

Re: Tayana 37 v Corbin 39

Owner finished and a sail drive do you need more reason to RUN from the Corbin, write about your choice and the reasons why. Shopping for and buying boats is not for the faint of heart. Employ a...

Re: Tarting up the salon ceiling?

We have removed all the "headliners" in our Pearson. Vinyl glued to thin plywood or aluminum, held up with varnished teak battens. No horrible but very old. We are repairing all the leaks and then...

Re: New injectors v rebuilding injectors

This GENSET has a glow plug to heat the cylinders. Right? I had this GENSET on a Bayliner 38 and if you didn't hold the glow plug switch for 30 seconds the GENSET would not start, no matter the fuel....

Re: Is there any simulation app for harbour maneuvers ?

I would add just two comments to this post:
1 NEUTRAL IS YOUR FRIEND, better to drift into a crash than power to try to avoid and hit at 3-5 knots.
2 ONLY GO AS FAST AS YOU WANT TO HIT SOMETHING....

Re: Is 10% normal earnest money before contract accepted?

The accepted "normal" deposit is 10% of your offer. Most of this is perception, if you want the yacht you need to display your sincerest intent. Staying with the normal 10% shows the seller that you...

Re: Choosing a Boat: A Lil’ Help Please

After 40 years as a yacht broker I had to put in my 2 cents. I would suggest you look at a Pearson 365 sloop or cutter or a Pearson 367 sloop or cutter but there were fewer (41) of them. The 367 has...
